Change, they say, is the only constant in life. All year long, the earth experiences specific changes that follow a pattern of events. Such differences range from little or no rainfall to continuous rainfall, periods of harsh sunshine to periods of unbearable cold, and a time of productivity to a time of dormancy. Over time, these changes have been categorized into seasons due to the repetition of events.
Different regions in the world have different seasons, based on their global positions. However, the most common seasons are Spring, Summer, Autumn (Fall), and Winter. These seasons determine the flow of events each year, particularly countries in the temperature zones of both the Northern and Southern hemispheres. In this article, our interest is in the Winter season.
Winter is a period of dormancy. During this season, animals migrate to places with warmer climates due to the extremities of the cold. Some animals even go into months of hibernation as their survival mechanism.
In the winter season, longer nights and shorter days are experienced. In addition, heavy rainfalls or snow are recorded. This and the limited presence of sunlight result in a halt in the growth of plants and trees.
Generally, winter is a season of low productivity of nature. The air is full of gloom, as against the bustling climate in Springtime.
